Tide Turner Rum Cocktail

We may not find ourselves vacationing in a tropical destination this holiday season but you can still bring the tropics to you! We should all be able to kick our feet up and daydream about our next tropical vacation with a delicious Tide Turner Rum Cocktail in hand!

This cocktail just happens to be one of our favorites. We were introduced to the Tide Turner, also called a Pain Killer, at the start of this year when we vacationed in St. John for New Year and ever since then, we have enjoyed making this DELICIOUS tropical cocktail at home. If you have ever visited any of the Virgin Islands…you’ll know that the Pain Killer is their cocktail of choice. We visited the infamous Soggy Dollar Bar on Jost Van Dyke, which is where we had the best Pain Killer we have ever had. You must give this cocktail a try!

I decorated our bar cart in a tropical theme to set the mood of our Virgin Island daydreams and then whipped up a batch of cocktails for some friends! I also added a few holiday touches to this tropical inspired setup with silver balls and stars.

Making this cocktail is super easy and only takes a few ingredients like Rum Haven’s Rum, which is made with real coconut water! Let’s get into the details so you can start making your own!

TIDE TURNER (OR PAINKILLER) RUM COCKTAIL

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 ounces of RumHaven rum
  • 2 ounces of pineapple juice
  • 1 ounce of orange juice
  • 1 ounce of coconut cream
  • fresh pineapple slices
  • fresh orange slices
  • mint leaves
  • ground nutmeg for sprinkling

DIRECTIONS:

Add all ingredients to an ice filled shaker and shake until well combined. Strain over a glass filled with ice (I used high ball glasses). Sprinkle a little nutmeg on top, add a mint leaf, and a skewer of pineapples and oranges. Sip on while daydreaming of your favorite tropical destination…ENJOY!
