RED VELVET CREAM CHEESE TRIFLES
INGREDIENTS
- box of red velvet cake + any ingredients listed on the box
- 1 block of full fat cream cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
- 3 1/4 cups confectioners’ sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon salt
- sprinkles
- chocolate hearts
DIRECTIONS
Prepare the red velvet cake per the instructions on the box. Make it as a cake and not as cupcakes. Cook according to the instructions on the box and allow to completely cool before preparing trifles.
While the cake is cooling, prepare the cream cheese frosting. In a large bowl or stand mixer, beat the softened cream cheese and softened butter together on high speed until smooth and creamy. Slowly add in 3 1/4 cups of confectioners’ sugared beat on low until well blended. Add in the vanilla and salt and beat on high for a couple of minutes until blended and smooth.
Remove the red velvet cake from your pan and cut the cake into 1 inch cubes. Place some cubes into the bottom of your dish and then top the cubes with a heaping scoop of frosting…repeat the layers to create a trifle. The final layer should be another scoop of icing. Top with sprinkles and a chocolate heart or two and ENJOY!
I hope you enjoy these red velvet cream cheese trifles! As always, thanks so much for stopping by…see you back here real soon!
